The Last Chance (2003) PG. 3.05PM, FIVE **

Old West comes up against the new in this modern western, which sees Lance Henriksen’s ranch on the verge of foreclosure, until his longestranged daughter returns to help drag it out of debt and into the 21st century. Predictable enough, but Henriksen makes it look effortless.

Frantic (1988) 15 10.35PM, ITV1 ****

An excellent thriller that calls to mind classic Hitchcock, with Harrison Ford as the Cary Grantstyle hero, drawn into a very dangerous game. Polanski’s intricately plotted thriller is gripping as Ford’s doctor searches for his missing wife.

Salvador (1986) 18 10.55PM, TCM ****

Oliver Stone’s factual drama about an American photojournalist (James Woods) covering the civil war in El Salvador, and finding himself allied to both leftist guerrillas and right-wing military forces. Violent but fascinating, it’s believed by many to be one of Stone’s finest films.

Dan In Real Life (2007) PG 11.15PM, BBC1 ***
